Since 1970, the Southern Demographic Association has hosted an annual meeting each fall, usually in October. The SDA meeting provides a friendly venue for people to present academic and applied demographic research, to discuss and learn about population issues, and to meet others with common interests.

AUGUST 23, 2021 UPDATE: It is difficult to share this news with our SDA members, but we are canceling the 2021 Annual meeting that was scheduled for October 4-6, 2021 in Knoxville, TN. The SDA Board believes this decision is in the best interest of our members' health and the financial interests of the association.

We intend to organize a couple of online sessions during the year for all members to attend so that we can engage around timely topics and have a chance to interact a bit. The Knoxville Crown Plaza has agreed to move our meeting date to October 2022, and we are currently looking for meeting dates. We would like to thanks Stephanie Bohon for all of her hard work in serving as the local arrangements coordinator. Gerald Shoultz will be in touch with members that have registered for the meeting already to issue a refund. Thank you for understanding this decision, and we will be in touch with ways we can connect this year.
