All manuscripts to be considered for publication in Population Research and Policy Review (PRPR) must be submitted online through Springer Nature’s Article Processing Platform (SNAPP).[submissions prior to 20 May 2025 will continue to be handled through Editorial Manager].
SNAPP operates differently than other manuscript platforms, so please read these instructions carefully.
There are six steps to submitting your manuscript in SNAPP: (1) select the article type, (2) upload your prepared files and a cover letter, (3) enter key manuscript details, (4) enter author information, (5) enter declarations, and (6) review the submission.
Important: You will NOT upload a title page with identifying information—this is different than other journal submission systems.
Submission Steps
In the SNAPP submission portal, authors will need to log in or register a new account. Following successful log in, the manuscript submission process proceeds as follows.
Step 1: Select Article Type
First, indicate whether your manuscript article type is a Research Article, Brief Report, or Research Review. Then click “ Start Submission.”
Step 2: Upload Files
Upload all the prepared files associated with your manuscript.
With the exception of the Cover Letter, all files must be de-identified. Avoid inadvertent author disclosure. Blind the name of the IRB that approved the data collection (if applicable). Avoid excessive author citations. Compose text in a way so that author citations are not apparent—if this is unavoidable, blind the author citation for review (be advised that blinded citations make it more difficult for peer reviewers to verify claims).
Important: Do not upload a Title Page with identifying information. Information is entered in Steps 3–5. This is different than other journal submission systems.

A single file noting appropriateness for PRPR and contribution. Detail any special considerations. May suggest potential peer reviewers. Not provided to peer-reviewers. |
**Again, do not upload a title page with identifying information.
Step 3: Enter Manuscript Details
Select whether the manuscript is being considered for Special Issue (“Collection”)—this is optional.
Complete the SNAPP online form by entering the manuscript title, abstract, and keywords. This information must be identical to that listed in the main manuscript file.
SNAPP includes this information in communication with potential peer reviewers and to identify qualified reviewers.
Step 4: Enter Author Information
Complete the SNAPP online form with the name, institutional affiliation (only one), email, and any funding support related to the submission for each author. Designate the Submitting Author and Corresponding Author(s). Provide an authorship statement describing the contribution of all authors (CrediT taxonomy recommended). State any acknowledgements.
Step 5: Enter Declarations
Complete SNAPP online form disclosing any financial and/or non-financial Competing Interests. Provide Data Availability statement (if applicable). Agree to all applicable Springer Nature policies.
Step 6: Review Submission
Carefully review the uploaded files and all information entered in the various online forms. Once ready, select “Submit Manuscript.” The submission is then transmitted to the Journal Editorial Office to begin the Review Process.
The manuscript will be assigned an identification number. Use this is any communication with the Journal Editorial Office.
